The decision to become a signatory was not a difficult one. Throughout Dietsmann’s nearly 40-years history the strategy, culture and day-to-day operations of its entire organization have been guided by the principles and values that have since become the cornerstones of the UN Global Compact.
Peter Kütemann, Dietsmann’s President & CEO: “Our principles and values are the basis of our business philosophy. We take them very seriously and we do not compromise them. We have remained loyal to our long-term clients for more than 30 years. Through both good times and difficult times, like the present, in which our clients’ efforts to reduce their costs put our margins under constant pressure. We are, however, nearing the point at which further cost (staff) reductions could jeopardize the safety of people, the environment and our clients’ assets. And that is something both we and our clients have never, and will never, accept.”
More information about Dietsmann’s progress in implementing the 10 principles in its business and supply chain can be found in its 2015 Communication on Progress report which can be downloaded from the Sustainability section of the Dietsmann’s website, www.dietsmann.com/ungc, or from the United Nations Global Compact Initiative website, http://www.unglobalcompact.org.
