Equinor, the Norwegian energy company, and Taurob, the Austrian robotics technology specialist and Dietsmann Group company, are working together on an industrial project to introduce the ATEX-approved Taurob Inspection & Maintenance robot on offshore platforms.

Equinor decided to test the robot on land, in a safe environment, before introducing it on the harsh North Sea offshore environment.
After a successful test-and-learning phase the robot is planned to become a major contributor in Equinor’s strategy to further enhance the safety of operations and reduce maintenance costs as well as CO2 emissions.

The Taurob robot is an autonomous inspection robot for hazardous operational environments and has already been operating on offshore environments for some other major International Energy Companies.
The Taurob Inspection & Maintenance robot allows to take personnel out of harm’s way, optimize production costs and asset uptime while reducing emissions. Last but not least , the robot is equipped with many sophisticated sensors that gather 24/7 real-time equipment data, which with the help of the right data interpretation and algorithms, allows for Predictive Maintenance.
Dietsmann is a major international maintenance company in the energy industry and leader in advanced predictive maintenance technology.
