On Friday 7 October a high-level meeting took place at OPEC’s offices in Vienna. It marked the start of planning discussions regarding the creation of an OPEC-Dietsmann New Technologies Workgroup.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayed S. Al-Qahtani, OPEC Research Division Director, Dr. Nadir Gürer, OPEC Head of Research, Dipl-Eng. Roland Matous, OPEC Research Specialist, Dr. Hans-Peter Messmer, OPEC Senior Research Analyst, Mr. Julius Walker, OPEC Senior Research Analyst, Peter Kutemann, President & CEO of Dietsmann, Dr. Ir. Duco Drenth, Head of Dietsmann New Technologies and Marco Arata, Dietsmann Board Advisor.
The creation of an OPEC-Dietsmann New Technologies Workgroup is a result of OPEC Secretary General HE Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo’s wish to bring the Organization’s knowledge and application of new technologies, such as Big Data Analysis, Blockchain Technologies, Augmented Reality applications and Robotics, up to speed on behalf of its members. Dietsmann was selected as OPEC’s partner due to the Company’s leadership in research into Augmented Reality and Robotics and its use of these technologies in its Operation & Maintenance of oil, gas and power production installations.
