SONADIETS opens new office and inaugurates new state-of-the art training centre

An official ceremony to open its new offices in central Luanda was held on March 20th by Dietsmann’s Angolan joint venture subsidiary SONADIETS Limitada. The opening of the new offices follows the inauguration of the company’s new state-of-the-art training centre in the Morro-Bento district of the capital on February 8th.

Dietsmann has been active in Angola since 1986, when it was awarded its first operation and maintenance contract in the country for Texaco’s Lombo East and Bagre Bloc 2.
In july 2000, Dietsmann’s President Peter Kütemann, signed a joint venture agreement with Angolan National Oil Company Sonangol President, Dr. Manuel Vicente. (see picture)
The joint company was named SONADIETS. It was one of the first joint ventures between the National Oil Company and an International Oil Services Company.

In the beginning of this year the company’s administrative activities where moved into new and bigger offices in the centre of the Angolan capital Luanda. In addition to providing a more appropriate and strategically central location, closer to clients and better able to meet their needs, the new headquarters provides the additional space and facilities needed for its fast expanding operations in the country. The 1600m2 facilities comprise 600m2 of offices and an adjacent 20-room guesthouse, and were opened officially on March 20th.

Dietsmann holds several maintenance and operation contracts for various clients, among which Sonangol, Esso and Total. More recently Dietsmann was awarded the Maintenance Engineering and long-term General Maintenance Contract by Total E&P Angola for their new state-of-the-art ‘Pazflor’ FPSO production facilities.

To address this expansion, and in line with Dietsmann’s Group policy to train and employ local resources to fulfill a maximum of positions, work began in parallel with the Pazflor development to design and build newer and bigger training facilities in the Luanda’s Morro-Bento district. The official opening of these state-of-the-art SONADIETS training centre was held on February 8th and was attended by representatives from Total EP Angola and Sonangol. The training of our new Pazflor staff has now begun in readiness for taking up their positions when the FPSO arrives within the last few weeks in the Gulf of Guinea and first oil is foreseen for October. In 2012 a second sister FPSO, named Clove, is expected to arrive and Dietsmann Angolan staff has to be ready to take their position here as well.
