Sustainability

As Dietsmann is in the energy business, we understand and accept that the company operates in a sector in which it must meet the highest levels of expectation from all its stakeholders with regard to social responsibility and sustainability. In conducting its business Dietsmann is inspired by and committed to upholding the principles of integrity, respect, loyalty, efficiency and transparency.

The dedication and professionalism of Dietsmann’s employees reflect the company’s values, and this is a decisive factor in ensuring Dietsmann’s continuing success.

Sustainability has always been central to the nature of Dietsmann’s business and to the way the company operates. Our business is maintaining energy – maximizing the availability, optimizing the safe operational performance and extending the operational lifetime of our clients’ plant.

Dietsmann also strives to operate its existing business and to develop new opportunities in an economically, environmentally and socially responsible way. These three focus areas represent the three pillars of sustainability – ‘people, planet, profit’, or the ‘triple bottom line’. These performance areas overlap in practice, in terms of both the activities involved and the stakeholders who benefit. An outline of the sustainability objectives involved and the stakeholders addressed in each is provided below.

Dietsmann is also an official signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate citizenship and sustainability initiative. The UN Global Compact is both a corporate responsibility initiative and a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.

Sustainable Economic Performance

Achieving our sustainable economic performance objectives involves operating according to our values, the highest standards of corporate governance and the company’s Business Conduct & Ethics Policy. It involves running and steadily growing the business in a sustainable way, for the benefit of clients, current and future employees, the communities in which Dietsmann works around the world and its shareholders.

Sustainable Environmental Performance

Sustainable environmental performance addresses two key areas: minimizing the environmental impact of clients’ operations and of our own activities. More information about both can be found under ‘Environment and sustainable development’ in the Health, Safety & Environment (HSEQ) section below. The better our performance in these areas, the greater the benefit for clients, the natural environment in areas in which the company operates as well as society at large.

Sustainable Social Performance

Achieving our sustainable social performance objectives brings benefits of many kinds to all our stakeholders. They include respecting human rights by providing sustainable and fair employment, training and career development opportunities, more information about which can be found in the ‘Human Resources’ section below. Dietsmann’s focus on providing opportunities for the nationals of the countries in which it operates brings many benefits to the local economies and communities, as well as to the local employees and their families. Especially important in our industry, the benefits include protecting the health and safety of the company’s own employees and others affected by its activities. Dietsmann is proud of its outstanding record in this area, more details about which can be found below in the HSEQ section.
